So I've completely slacked on keeping up with this blog! I've decided to keep updating throughout Blake's growth, not only for friends and family but for Blake to see and have when she is older and can appreciate it. :)
Blake's Birth
Blake Yvonne Kubon was born on Saturday, 01/01/2011 at 4:23pm in Fayetteville, GA at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. She was 21 inches long and 7lbs 14oz, and had dark brown hair. I chose to be induced at 39 weeks, for no medical reasons, just an elective induction. Blake was meant to be born on 12/31/10 - New Year's Eve, however, on our way to the hospital at 4:00am we received a phone call informing us that there were no hospital beds, and to call back around 9:00am to see if there was any room for us. I called back at 9:00am and unfortunately, there was not any room. The entire day we played the waiting game and come 2:00pm I knew we weren't going to be having her that day. I was told to call back the next morning at 7:00am. The next day I called in at exactly 7:00am and was told to be there by 9:00am. Within 15 minutes of checking in my doctor, Dr. Ralsten, broke my water and I was started on pitocin. By 3:00pm I was fully dilated and ready to push, however, had to wait until 3:30pm to begin pushing. At 4:23pm Blake was born. I was unable to hold her for the first hour, as she had meconium in her lungs and the nurses had to aspirate her lungs before she was given to me. As soon as they placed her in my arms I fell in love. :) First pictures ..

The first few weeks of being home with Blake she had some issues gaining weight, along with acid reflux and a bit of colic. She cried a good bit, to the point where we didn't know what to do. I was unable to breast feed for long due to my milk not staying in for long and had to switch to forumla full time. She went from Similac Advance to Similac Alimentum to Enfamil Nutramigen, which is what she is on now. The doctor also perscribed her liquid Zantac. Everything has seemed to calm down a good bit, but she still has her issues. I cannot wait to try feeding her cereal or peas and see if maybe she will have a better time with that vs the milk. Cross your fingers.
At 8 weeks we saw Blake's first real smile, not a gas smile. It was absolutely adorable. Since day one she's been unbelievable with her neck control and now at 12 1/2 weeks she is almost stable enough on her own with it. Give it another couple of weeks and I'll be putting her little butt in a Bumbo seat. Cannot wait! :) Everyday is something new, whether it be her cooing and cawing, her smiles while she kicks and laughs, her grabbing onto a ring on her playmat - each day I feel like she's growing up more and more.
Blake's last Dr. appointment, 2 months - she weighed 11lbs 7 oz and was 24" long. Can't wait to see where she's at on her 4 month visit. Here are some pictures along the way from the past three months ..
